Hasan Metla, Senior Vice President Omnix Group, United Arab Emirates, was invited to give a lecture at the UMT campus on "How to become an IT Entrepreneur". The lecture was organized by Asad Ur Rehman Khan, Director Institutional Linkages (Foreign), Ibrahim Qazi, Director Foreign Relations, UMT, and Bilal Sheikh, Electrical Engineering Student SST, UMT. IEEE-UMT Team Members (Izan Shahid, Rizwan Munawar) and Volunteers (Rohail Ahmed, Hasnain Jawad) welcomed the speaker.
The lecture was attended by a large number of students from the Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM) and the School of Science and Technology (SST). Those who were present on the occasion included Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, and Dr A R Kausar, Pro-Rector UMT.
Hasan Metla discussed the phenomenal growth of the Chinese market and its impact on the global economy. He also explained the dynamics of online shopping consumer behavior and various mobile operating systems. Hasan shared the processes for developing Android and Iphone Applications. On an important note, he encouraged students to take the road to entrepreneurship and gave them useful tips for raising capital for investment. He also discussed the increasingly popular social marketing concept in Pakistan. At the end of the lecture, a question and answer session was also held.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad announced that a Micro Apps Development Laboratory would be set up at UMT and Omnix will look into financing the venture in collaboration with UMT. He also announced development of UMT Micro Apps Store for marketing these apps and networking with venture financing. Dr Hasan encouraged Bilal Sheikh to arrange more seminars of this kind in the future. He also gave his comments on a new facebook page where students may share their ideas with a global audience.
