VISIT OF SDC TO UMT SCHOOL OF DESIGN AND TEXTILES The Society of Dyers and Colorists (SDC) is an international professional society with its headquarter in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK. The SDC was founded in 1884 and was granted a Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1963. It is the world’s leading independent, educational charity dedicated to advancing the science and technology of colour worldwide. The Society is governed by a Board of Trustees and through the Royal Charter, By-Laws and Rules. SDC offers a number of free and paid online courses such as Introduction to Colour, Introduction to Textile Dyeing, Textile Coloration Certificate, Associateship of the SDC (ASDC), Chartered Colorist (CCol), Fellowship of the SDC (FSDC) etc. Such information is available at their website https://colour.network. On 27 th February 2020, the President of the SDC, Ms. Sue Bolton along with SDC Education Engagement Officer, Ms. Shelly Hollingdrake and SDC representative in Pakistan, Dr. Mohsin Malik, visited the University of Management and Technology and met the Worthy Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam, Dean School of Design and Textiles and , Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Hasan Malik, Chairman Department of Design, Mr. Adil Masood Qazi and a few faculty members of the school. The visiting delegation apprised about the activities being carried out by the SDC worldwide. Subsequently, the delegation gave a presentation to about eighty students of various programs of the School of Design and Textiles and informed them about the benefits of online courses being offered by the society. The participants took keen interest in the presentation by the delegation with the hope that they will register themselves for a few online courses. After spending a couple of hours at the University, the delegation departed for Faisalabad.
