UMT teams win engineering competitions at NFC IEEE Faisalabad

Students from the University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, participated in NFC Techno War Competition 2011held at the NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research (NFC IFER), Faisalabad. The participating teams were trained for the competitions by Dr Sajjad H Shami, Chairperson, Department of Electrical Engineering.

The teams were led by Rauf Ali, Assistant Professor, School of Science and Technology (SST) at UMT. The UMT teams participated in 4 competitions and succeeded in winning three of them. They secured the first and third competition in the engineering quiz titled Mind Wobble which was an interactive competition that combined technical input, personal effectiveness and practical hands-on experiences. The team that secured the 1st position comprised of Saqib Azam, Saad Liaqat Ali, and Salman Khalid. The team that was awarded the 3rd position included Bilal Sheikh, Talha Anjum and Azeem Iqbal.

The Future Ideas Competition was won by Salman Khalid and Saad Liaqat Ali. Contestants were required to present their ideas to a panel of judges in a 15 minute presentation. They were judged on the basis of their communication efficiency, problem analysis and effectiveness of solutions.

UMT students also won the Boom Stike, an E-Gaming Competition. Badar Munir, Aqeel Tariq, and Umair Tariq won the Need for Speed while the second position was won by  the team comprising of Aqeel Tariq, Badar Munir, Ulfat Hussain, Raza and Umair Tariq.
