The School of Professional Advancement (SPA) hosted a lunch meeting with 20 leading agribusiness professionals, educationists, practitioners and industrialists from reputed companies such as Austrade, Millac Foods, CBI, Dairy Solutions, DeLaval, USAID, Pakistan Belgian Blue Cattle Farm, Auriga Group, AWJ Services, University of Queensland Australia, Punjab Agricultural Research Board and Hailey College.
Dr Arshad Hashmi, Advisor Agribusiness Program SPA, presented an overview of the Master Program in Agribusiness which SPA is going to launch in the Fall 2010 Semester. The participants appreciated the program and recommended that Internal Agricultural Standards, Farm Management, Production and Supply Chain, and Dairy and Livestock Management should be added as core courses. They also suggested that Farm Management should be included as a third specialization of the program in addition to International Agribusiness and Agrimarketing. They confirmed their long term support to the SPA Agribusiness Program by offering internships and job opportunities to the students.
Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, and Naveed Yazdani, Director SPA, led an interactive discussion with the participants. Dr Hasan agreed with the participants' suggestions that both pre and post production courses should be included in the program as it would then offer full coverage of the agricultural supply chain. Program Heads of SPA Khalil Arbi, Khurram Khan and Aqeel Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
