Cost Saving Initiatives in Supply Chain

A seminar was held on “Cost Saving Initiatives in Supply Chain” under CSCR Supply Chain Forum, Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM). This seminar was attended by more than 40 supply chain professionals from different organization, faculty members of Dr Hasan Murad School of Management, UMT, and supply chain students.

Amer Saeed, Lecturer UMT, recited some verses from the Holy Quran, Ijaz Yusuf, Director, Center for Supply Chain Research, welcomed all participants and explained the Center's activities for industry and academia. The speaker of the 2nd CSCR Supply Chain Forum, Hafeez Kalim, Head, Supply Chain Stylo Shoes, shared his views and experiences. He is an IBA and LUMS graduate with 15 years of diverse industrial experience.

The Idea behind the seminar was to understand the importance of cost saving in supply chain and to plan accordingly. Hafeez said that each link in the supply chain is important for the over all success of the company. He disseminated information on various concepts of supply chain and its application in the industry. After the presentation, a question and answer session was held. The participants discussed new unexplored areas of supply chain for future research.
The event was sponsored by Dr Tariq Mahmood, CEO, Organon Livestock Feeding. who is known for his efforts in establishing linkages between academia and industry.

At the end of the seminar, Ijaz Yusuf thanked the speaker, sponsor and participants of the seminar. They appreciated the students for taking an active part in the seminar and also hoped that UMT students would prove to be true change agents in today’s world. Ijaz also shared his determination that CSCR will continue to organize such events in the near future. At the end of seminar, Ijaz Yusuf presented a shield to the speaker as a gesture of appreciation.
