Around 500 indigenous technologies made by young scientists and faculty members were set up. Vice chancellor Punjab University Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran highly appreciated the efforts of Abid HK Shirwani for giving and implementing the idea of “invention to innovation”. Addressing the summit Rector UMT Prof. Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad said Pakistan was rich in all sorts of resources and if the strong will was to show, we could make headway in all fields of life including science and technology. He said Pakistanis are a genius nation and there is no scarcity of talented and great minds that are able to bring a change in science and technology including all other spheres of life. He said that research done in other countries of the world receives 70% financial support but here in Pakistan, even the most important sector of science and technology has been working without any government patronage. Dr. Murad emphasized to introduce a comprehensive policy on research and recommended for funds to be allocated for research from school, college and to university level. It is to be noted the next phase of the exhibition and prize distribution ceremony shall be held at UMT Johar Town campus.
