Awareness walk for persons with disabilities

Department of Special Needs Education organized an awareness walk on International Day of People with Disability on December 3, 2013. The event was successful on embracing diversity. Prominent dignitaries Rector UMT Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Dr Zahid Mahmood, Dr Khalid Rashid and all faculty members of Department of Special Needs Education were present on this auspicious event.

Rector UMT announced that UMT will offer a flexible admission and fee policy for students with disabilities who want to acquire higher education. Worthy Rector also showed his commitment towards accessibility of UMT premises and resources for students with disabilities. He also confirmed to provide ten electronic wheel chairs to the Disability Resource Centre.

Overall awareness walk was very productive as it encouraged the students with disabilities to become a vibrant part of the UMT community. The heartfelt speech made by Dr Hasan changed the scenario by making friendly policies for students with disabilities.
