Microsoft Innovation Team visits UMT
November 22, 2013

Computer Science Department of UMT invited Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC), Lahore to conduct an orientation session with the help of our BS-CS student Muneeb Khan (Microsoft Student Partner) . Representatives from MIC Lahore visited UMT for the first time. The team included Zaigham Ikram Butt, Business Manager MIC Lahore, Awais Khan Niazi, Project Coordinator MIC, Lahore, and Shahid Aziz, Technical Manager MIC, Lahore. They were very warmly welcomed by the UMT family.

The MIC team introduced the students to recent projects and products of Microsoft. Zaighum motivated the students to work hard and smart, and be informed about the opportunities available around. Later, Shahid conducted an App development session on MS-Windows 8.1. MIC offered their full support and internship opportunities to UMT CS/SE/IT students. They will also offer free of cost help and tools to build and test projects on Microsoft platform. In addition, they will give Dream-spark account membership to selected students to get free Microsoft products.

Students were very excited after attending the event, and looked very eager in attending future workshops and development sessions to be conducted by MSP.

This was a successful step forward in bridging the gap between industry and academia in Pakistan.
