Management and Leadership Skills for Agri Professionals

Office of Career Services (OCS) and School of Professional Advancement (SPA) organized a workshop on Management and Leadership Skills for agri-business professionals at the UMT campus, Lahore.
Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, welcomed all professionals and briefed on the importance and difference of management and leadership styles in various organizations. Ch Faisal Sarfraz, Manager Career and Placement, was the moderator of this workshop. He highlighted the significance of the workshop for professionals and introduced all speakers to the audience.
Farzoq Chaudhry, Head OCS, and Khalil Arabi, Assistant Professor SPA, were the trainers, while Chief Executive Officer Aurgia Group Jamshed Iqbal Cheema was the chief guest at the event. A total of 51 professionals from reputed organizations working in agriculture, livestock and dairy sectors attended this workshop. The rationale of the workshop was to develop good managerial and leadership qualities among agri-professionals.
Farzoq Chaudhry presented leadership and management models for growth in the agricultural sector. He also briefed them on how traditional and non-traditional managerial and leadership styles create difference in personal and organizational performance. He stressed that both entrepreneurs and managers should equip their farms and organizations with new management techniques, and develop human resource management skills in order to improve production capacity.
Khalil Arbi correlated global practices in agriculture and livestock sector with our traditions methods and stressed how yields and productions can be enhanced through technological advancement at our farms.
CEO Auriga Group Jamshed Iqbal Cheema addressed the participants of the workshop. He thanked UMT and OCS for organizing these customized training workshops as key steps towards developing professionals of this industry from GOOD to GREAT. He said that success is not about achieving a goal but it is based on continuous efforts. Pakistan’s future is in agriculture and those who are working in this field hold the keys of the success of this sector.
