IEEE Day at UMT
October 6, 2011
 

IEEE Day was celebrated at UMT. Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, was the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Dr Sajjad Shami, Chairperson Electrical Engineering Department, Dr Abdul Aziz Bhatti, Dean SST, more than 20 faculty members and 100+ participants. It was organized by Bilal Sheikh and Aqeel Tariq (students of electrical engineering), and Rizwan Munawwar (student of  Computer Science). The Seminar Room was especially decorated for this global day event in which students from electrical engineering department displayed electronics, robotics and power energy projects.

After recitation of some verses from the Holy Qur'an, Dr Sajjad Shami welcomed new students for Fall 2011. Branch Counselor IEEE-UMT Faisal Khan gave a briefing on branch activities and past achievements of SST students. Muhammad Rizwan, Patron IEEE UMT, gave the presentation on the history of IEEE. Sadia Murshid, Head Patron WIE- UMT, and Hareem Khan, faculty member SST, motivated female participants to take part in IEEE. Dr Abdul Aziz Bhatti distributed the certificates and shields among the participants of MATLAB Workshop, Pic Micro Controller Workshop and NFC Faisalabad Winners.

A special cake cutting ceremony was arranged on this occasion. Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Dr Sajjad Shami, Dr Abdul Aziz Bhatti, Faisal Khan and  Bilal Sheikh led the ceremony. In his closing remarks, Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, appreciated the core team of IEEE UMT. He also advised Dr Sajjad Shami to arrange such events in future.
