Panel Discussion on Aligning Teacher Education with Inclusive Education

Wider collaboration is need to bring out of school children back to school, Dr. Abdul Hameed A seminar on ALIGNING TEACHER EDUCATION WITH INCLUSIVE EDUCATION was organized today by Department of Special Needs Education, University of Management and Technology under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed Dean SSSH renowned for remarkable research contribution in the field of inclusive education. Dr. Mehar Syed, Dr. Rizwan Akbar Rana, Dr. Shaheen Pasha, Dr. HinaFazil, and Dr. SeemaArif, were the panelist to discuss various challenges and issues for the topic of the day. The chair presented a brief on need of aligning present teacher education programs for the implementation of inclusive education.He emphasized on revamping the philosophy, sociology and pedagogy of teacher education to accommodate and provide equal educational opportunity for out of school children with disabilities.He also highlighted the UMT initiative of successful inclusion of students with special needs in BS and Masters Degree Programs.All the panelist shared their valuable opinions for the improvement of teacher education programme by developing new courses and perking up the existing courses of teacher education along with conducting awareness seminars, involvement of various stakeholders and publishing success stories. Mrs. Afaf Manzoor and Mr. Usman Zia were the organizers of the seminar.
