Italian businessmen addresses seminar organized by Department of Management

The Department of Management under the platform of the Executive Forum and UMT Internationalization Initiative in collaboration with Investment Promotion Unit-A joint SMEDA-UNIDO & Italia initiative conducted an interactive session on “Business Strategy: A Talk with Italian Businessmen” at the School of Business and Economics. Paolo De Grandis, Managing Director Grafikontrol S.p.A Italy), and Riccardo Farinelli, Executive Coordinator Europe-GRFC, were the key note speakers for the session.

The guests were welcomed on behalf of Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, Rector UMT, by Naveda Kitchlew, Chairperson, Management Department. Paolo De Grandis shared his practical experiences with the students and faculty members in terms of running his firm in Italy and the rest of the world. He talked at length about the strategies incorporated by his company’s portfolio, especially the major turnaround strategy adopted, key success factors, industry dynamics and the future corporate intent of Grafikontrol S.p.A Italy. His presentation was followed by a lively and interactive question and answer Session from the students and faculty.

During the second round of the session, Riccardo Farinelli, Executive Coordinator Europe-GRFC, talked about the existing business environment of Pakistan and Italy and the importance of change management for success in today’s international environment.

The session was closed with a vote of thanks by Director Executive MBA program Aly Raza Syed to all participants including students, faculty, Imran Chaudhry and Sami Bajwa from IPU, and the two foreign guests. This was followed by a ceremony of presenting souvenirs and mementos by Dr Rukhsana Kalim, Dean SBE, to the foreign guests. The session continued with an informal interaction over tea between the students of SBE and the key note speakers.

The Internationalization Initiative Committee is looking forward to continue this collaboration with Investment Promotion Unit – Lahore for similar events in future.
